Auction Action: 2006 Auction Napa Valley
Bidding was fast and fierce at Auction Napa Valley this June, where our lot raised $90,000 for Napa Valley health, youth, and housing beneficiaries.
Designed as a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Paris Tasting, Lot #3 combined the best of old and new world wine experiences including a weekend in the Napa Valley, a trip to Paris and Bordeaux guided by Steven Spurrier, the organizer of the 1976 Paris Tasting, a library collection of large format S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon, and one of the few remaining bottles of the legendary 1973 winning wine.
When the gavel dropped, Mr. & Mrs. Paul H. Wick of Palo Alto were delighted to discover that they had placed the winning bid. “We never expected to win the lot, given its uniqueness, but we decided to 'go for it',” remarked first time attendee Paul Wick after placing the winning bid.
Paul is Managing Director of J.&W. Seligman &Co. Karin is currently a technology recruiting executive with aspirations in winemaking. She recently enrolled in viticulture and enology coursework through UC Davis Extension. Perhaps a future winemaker is in our midst.
We’d like to extend our gratitude to the Wicks for supporting the efforts of Auction Napa Valley by purchasing our lot, and we’ll be sure to incorporate some trip highlights into an upcoming newsletter.
