The winery acquires the third estate vineyard, located at the base of Mount George.
It is named ARCADIA VINEYARD after the land of pastoral simplicity celebrated by the Roman poet Virgil. The gravelly silt loam soils were formed in part by an ancient inland lake. The land was originally developed by Austin Hills and Miljenko “Mike” Grgich, of Grgich-Hills Cellar and produced some of their great early Chardonnays.
(This vineyard remains under the ownership of the founder.)
