Lady Liberty in Auction Top Ten
The campaign to reopen the Statue of Liberty received a boost on June 7, when eager bidding pushed the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars offering into the top ten lots at the 2004 Napa Valley Wine Auction.
The Statue of Liberty had been closed to visitors since September 11, 2001. The fundraising campaign to reopen this landmark covered the cost of enhanced security, allowing the statue to reopen on August 3.
