A Dinner to Remember
The 1,000th event held by the New York chapter of the International
Warren Winiarski was on hand for the November 19 dinner and spoke about his wine to the more than 100 enthusiastic attendees, including some whose membership in the Society dates back to its earliest days. Founded by André Simon in London in 1933, the Society seeks to encourage the enlightened enjoyment of the pleasures of food and wine. Simon opened the New York chapter in 1934, one year after the repeal of Prohibition.
"Warren has a long-standing relationship with the Society, so we were thrilled to have him there for this milestone event," says wine writer and educator Harriet Lembeck, the chapter's wine chair. "And the CASK 23 was fabulous."
Other wines on the menu included a 1996 Meursault, Louis Jadot; a 1998 Chassagne Montrachet; a 1985 Domaine De La Romanée Conti Grands Echezeaux; and a 1983 Sandeman Vintage Port.
