Napa Valley Wine Auction
June 3-6, 2004 - The 2004 Napa Valley Wine Auction marked an unprecedented achievement in community giving by raising over $50 million for local charities since its inception in 1981. This year alone, the event raised $5.3 million dollars. Once again, the unparalleled generosity and hospitality of Napa Valley Vintners made a difference in the lives of the underserved in Napa County.

More than 300 bidders raised their paddles to purchase the 139 live lots, 95 barrel lots, 50 silent auction lots, and 29 community artist lots. Approximately 92% of NVV members participated in this year's event by donating an auction lot, providing serving wine, hosting a hospitality event, or a Sunday open house.

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars' Thursday evening hospitality event celebrated the 1976 Paris Tasting as the winery was transformed into the City of Lights. Guests experienced a Parisian celebration of the senses as they sampled 1991 and 2000 FAY, S.L.V. and CASK 23 as well as a taste of the Paris Tasting winner, 1973 S.L.V. Dinner was prepared by chef Ken Frank of La Toque Restaurant.

For the live auction, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars offered an exceptional lot in honor of the Statue of Liberty:
Lot Description:
The Statue of Liberty, one of America's greatest national icons, has been closed to the public since the morning of September 11, 2001. Enhanced safety requirements are being funded through a variety of private sources. It is hoped that the Statue will be open again sometime in 2004.

Because Warren is a member of the Board of Directors of The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, the Winiarski family will match the winning bid (up to $100,000) in the bidder's name to the Campaign to Re-Open the Statue of Liberty. The winning bidder's name will be added to a plaque of major contributors to this cause. Certain entitlements will also be forthcoming in the future to the winning bidder In addition, a festive dinner for 6 prepared by a nationally known chef will be held in the winery cave's Great Room and attended by dignitaries of The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation and other distinguished American guests who have an Ellis Island immigrant background.

Finally, because Warren and Barbara both have immigrant ancestors, they have gone deeply into the winery library as a tribute. The following wines are being offered to those contributing to the Campaign to Re-Open the Statue of Liberty:
