On May 24th, 2006 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars had the honor of being included in a recreation of the Paris Tasting, on the day exactly 30 years after the original event. The blind tasting, held concurrently at Copia: The American Center for Food and Wine, and Berry Bros. and Rudd in London, brought together two panels of expert tasters and the same wines and vintages that had been blind tasted with such dramatic results in 1976. The judges also tasted through a comparative set of younger vintages from the same or similar estates.
It is with great pleasure that we announce the results of the combined scores of the recreation, in which Ridge Monte Bello 1971 took the first place honors and the Stag's Leap Wine Cellars 1973 placed second. We are also gratified that in the tasting of contemporary wines, the Stag's Leap Wine Cellars CASK 23 2001 was also well received among the expert panels, placing second among California's leading Cabernet Sauvignon producers in the combined panel and first in the UK panel.
